If you have purchased an APC diary template, you will find it under ‘downloads’ in the list on the left hand side.
Please read all the instructions carefully on each page before proceeding and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries.
Why are my revision modules no longer available?
By default, your licence has been granted for a period of 6 months after which your modules will no longer appear on your dashboard. To extend your access period free of charge, please contact us at sonia@apcsupport-ltd.co.uk

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
When should I start preparing my submission documents?
We recommend starting your preparation as soon as you enrol. This allows you to use our APC Diary template to track your progress, our revision modules to progressively build the required formal CPD hours, and our complimentary experience checklist to ensure you are acquiring the relevant work experience for an APC candidate.
For drafting your submission documents, we suggest beginning around 8 months before your planned interview. This gives you enough time to develop your Summary of Experience and Case Study gradually, ensuring a well-structured submission rather than rushing at the end.
How many mentoring sessions do I typically need?
The number of sessions depends on your experience and confidence.
If you are using our Summary of Experience Builder, most candidates typically require:
- 3 hours to develop their Case Study
- 1–3 hours for Q&A practice
- 1 formal mock interview session
This can be tailored to your individual needs, and additional sessions can be added if you feel more support is beneficial.
Do you provide templates or past submission examples?
We offer our Summary of Experience Builder, a structured tool with reference examples and mentor feedback. It helps you organise your competencies and draft your statements within RICS word count limits, while maintaining originality.
Do you offer a documentation review service prior to submission?
We strongly recommend using our Summary of Experience Builder, which includes mentor review and feedback as you develop your statements. This allows us to guide you throughout the drafting process and ensure your competencies are structured correctly from the start.
If you have already prepared your documents, we also offer a documentation review service through live mentoring sessions on Microsoft Teams. This approach allows us to discuss any areas of concern directly with you and clarify the context of your projects, which is often more effective than traditional remote document review services where feedback is provided without the opportunity for discussion.
For a comprehensive review of your Summary of Experience and Case Study, we typically recommend 4 to 6 hours of mentoring sessions, depending on the complexity of your submission.
How can you support me in preparing my case study?
First, we recommend that you carefully read the advice provided in our blog: https://apctips.wordpress.com/2015/06/28/case-study-part-1-selecting-your-key-issue/
We then suggest booking a one-hour mentoring session to identify two suitable key issues and associated options, along with some relevant achievements and lessons learned.
Once you have drafted your case study privately and ensured that it is within the 3,000-word limit, you may book a two-hour mentoring session to review your draft. This review can be conducted live on Teams or remotely, depending on your preference.
Do you check spelling and grammar?
No, we do not provide proofreading services.
We recommend running your document through Microsoft Word’s spelling and grammar check, or using an AI tool for grammar and spelling review only.
Please note that the RICS prohibits the use of AI to draft submission documents. If you choose to use an AI tool, ensure that it is used strictly for spelling and grammar checks only.
What if I don’t have a chartered surveyor to sign off my documents?
Access to a professional counsellor is available only for candidates who meet our selective criteria and are enrolled in our full structured training programme, ensuring compliance and professional oversight.
In addition to your counsellor, you will need two chartered signatories. We can usually assist all our candidates with arranging these signatories.
How can I practice my 10-minute presentation?
Please book a one-hour mentoring session and specify that the session is intended to practise your 10-minute presentation.
During the session:
- You will present your case study in the first 10 minutes
- This will be followed by 30 minutes of questioning on your case study
- The final 20 minutes will be dedicated to feedback and discussion
Upon receipt of your order, you will also receive a complimentary link to our pre-recorded “10-minute Presentation” webinar.
Do you offer a list of potential APC questions?
This service is currently suspended while we work on an improved version, which will include a multi-choice revision app and several revision books.
In the meantime, three hours of Q&A mentoring sessions will give you access to a huge bank of likely APC questions, which you can refine and practise with.
What happens during a mock interview?
Your mock interview will take place on Teams under the same conditions as the real APC interview. It will be conducted by two very experienced assessors, with one assessor taking on the dual role of chair.
- The chair will introduce the process.
- You will deliver your 10-minute presentation without interruption. If you exceed the time allowance, your chair will stop you.
- Following your presentation, the assessors will take turns asking questions on:
- Your case study (10 minutes)
- Your mandatory and technical competencies (30 minutes)
- The chair will dedicate the final 10 minutes to questions on ethics, RICS regulations, and professionalism.
After the one-hour mock interview, the panel will provide relaxed and supportive feedback, and you are encouraged to ask as many questions as you wish.
Your mock interview can be recorded and the recording emailed to you upon request.
I am feeling overwhelmed and struggling with the amount of revisions and stress of my upcoming interview. Can you help me?
Our mentoring sessions are always warm and supportive, helping you find the right balance of confidence and pressure to perform at your best during the interview.
If you feel that further support is needed, we can provide a list of trusted psychologists and wellness therapists we regularly work with.
Do you guarantee that I will be successful at the APC?
Our services are advisory only. We cannot guarantee success at the interview, as your performance depends on factors outside our control, such as your level of study, your panel, or nerves on the day.
What should I do if I get referred?
Only a small number of candidates on our structured training programme get referred. In the unlikely event of a referral, we recommend:
- Remind yourself of your achievements to date and view the interview as a constructive experience.
- Book a mentoring session to review your referral report and agree on remedial steps.
From experience, for candidates on our structured training programme, a couple of hours of Q&A practice combined with a positive mindset is usually sufficient to succeed on the next attempt.
