APC training – Module 2: Contract practice / Contract Administration
This APC revision module comprises of 8 units for you to choose from depending on your work experience. It equates to 5 – 6 hours of formal CPD.
The Contract Practice and Contract Administration competencies are so closely related that it is more time effective to study them together. Whether you are a PQS, a contractor’s QS, a PM or a Building Surveyor, you imperatively need to know your contracts inside out for your APC. If you were to only enroll in one module, it should be this one.
This module will provide you with all the level 1 knowledge in Contract Practice and Contract Administration for the main JCT, NEC and FIDIC contracts and subcontracts, as well as bespoke (sub)contracts. In addition, your APC trainer will explain you how to demonstrate level 2 and 3 in these competencies.
Advice to complete your summary of experience and examples of common APC questions are provided throughout the training videos. You will also be given access to associated study notes and copious revision materials.
As always, you are welcome to contact us by email if you have any questions after completing the units.
APC training – Module 2: Contract Practice / Contract Administration includes;
Unit 1: Subcontract / Contract Selection (1 hour)
Unit 2: Payment Provisions in JCT and NEC contracts (1.5 hour)
Unit 3: Time related Provisions in JCT and NEC contracts (1 hour)
Unit 4: Securities and Termination in JCT and NEC contracts (1 hour)

Unit 6: Time related Provisions in FIDIC contracts (1 hour)
Unit 7: Securities and Termination in FIDIC contracts (1 hour)

Note for contractor’s QS:
You need to be fully conversant with both your head contracts with your external clients AND your subcontracts with your supply chain to meet the requirements of the Contract Practice competency. You need to study Unit 1 as well as Units 2 to 4 (or Units 5 to 7).
If you have selected Contract Administration as an optional competency, you will need to refer exclusively to your subcontracts. Unit 8 clarifies how to adapt the requirements of both competencies to your role.
