APC training – Module 5: Design economics and Cost Planning

This APC revision module comprises of a single unit and equates to 1.5 hour of formal CPD.

This competency is exclusively suitable for quantity surveyors working in a consultancy environment. If you are a contractor’s QS, you will need to select a different competency as this would severely compromise your chances of success at the APC.

This competency is concerned with setting up budgets for the client and developing the design to maximise value, prior to tender issue. Do not confuse with Project Finance which is concerned with maximising value for the client during the construction period.

This module will provide you with all the level 1 knowledge in Design Economics and Cost Planning. In addition, your APC trainer will explain you how to demonstrate level 2 and 3 in this competency.
